Terms and Conditions

Terms and Conditions

Last updated: 1/1/2026

These Terms and Conditions apply to all bookings made with Monkie Event Hire. By placing a booking, paying a deposit, or hiring any item from us, you agree to the terms below.

1. Definitions

“Monkie Event Hire”, “we”, “us” or “our” refers to Monkie Event Hire.

“Customer”, “you” or “your” refers to the person or business making a booking.

“Hire Items” means all products supplied by Monkie Event Hire, including but not limited to backdrops, faux flowers, floral arches, plinths, chairs, tables, bouquets, signage, decals and event accessories.

“Booking” means any confirmed order placed through our website, by invoice, or by written agreement.

2. Booking and Payment

A booking is only secured once the required deposit has been paid.

A 20% non-refundable deposit is required to secure your booking. The remaining balance must be paid before the hire items are collected by the customer, or immediately after setup is completed by Monkie Event Hire for delivery bookings.

Customers are responsible for checking all booking details before payment, including hire dates, pickup or delivery option, event location, item selection, colours, sizes and any custom wording.

If incorrect information is provided, Monkie Event Hire is not responsible for delays, unsuitable items, incorrect decal wording, failed delivery, or other issues caused by those incorrect details.

3. Hire Period

Self-pickup rentals are priced for up to four days unless otherwise stated. There is no discount for a shorter hire period.

All items must be picked up and returned at the agreed date and time. Late pickup or late return may result in additional charges.

Hire items remain the property of Monkie Event Hire at all times.

4. Pickup

Unless otherwise advised, pickup is available from Kogarah, NSW.

If the booking includes backdrops, floral arches, large plinths or other large hire items, the customer must use a suitable enclosed vehicle for transport, such as a van, truck or another vehicle with a fully covered loading area.

Utes, open trailers or any vehicles without a fully covered loading area are not suitable for picking up backdrops or large hire items. These vehicles do not provide proper protection from rain, wind or transport damage. Monkie Event Hire may refuse to release hire items if the vehicle is not suitable.

The vehicle must have enough flat, stable loading space. For backdrops and large hire items, the loading space generally needs to be at least approximately 2 metres × 1 metre, depending on the size of the items booked.

Customers are responsible for checking that their vehicle, loading space and transport method are suitable before pickup. If the vehicle is unsuitable, or if Monkie Event Hire believes the items are at risk of being damaged during transport, we may refuse to release the hire items. Any delay, cancellation or extra cost caused by unsuitable transport is the customer’s responsibility.

Customers must protect, secure and handle all hire items carefully during transport. The customer is responsible for all hire items from the time they are collected until they are returned and checked by Monkie Event Hire.

5. Delivery and Setup

Delivery and professional setup may be available across Sydney, depending on location, timing and availability.

Customers must ensure the venue is accessible at the agreed delivery and collection times. This includes suitable parking, loading access, lifts, stairs, doorways, ceiling height and a safe setup area.

If our team cannot access the venue, cannot safely install the items, or is delayed due to incorrect information, additional delivery, waiting or cancellation fees may apply.

Delivery and setup fees are separate from hire prices unless clearly stated otherwise.

6. Outdoor Events and Weather

For outdoor bookings, customers must provide a safe and suitable setup area.

Hire items must not be exposed to unsafe weather conditions, including heavy rain, strong wind, storms, lightning, extreme heat or unstable ground.

Monkie Event Hire may refuse or stop setup if the location or weather conditions are unsafe.

Customers are strongly encouraged to have a wet weather or backup plan, such as an indoor or covered area. If no suitable backup plan is available and the booking cannot proceed safely, the booking may be treated as a customer cancellation.

7. Custom Decals and Personalised Details

For custom decals, signage or personalised wording, customers must provide final text and details by the requested deadline.

Customers are responsible for checking spelling, dates, names and wording before approval.

Once a decal or custom item has been produced, changes may not be possible and additional costs may apply.

Custom decals or personalised items may be non-refundable once production has started.

8. Use of Hire Items

Hire items must be used only for their intended event purpose.

Customers must not move, alter, repaint, attach unsuitable materials to, climb on, sit on, overload, or misuse any hire item.

Backdrops, floral arches, plinths and decorative structures must be placed on stable, level ground and used safely.

Children must be supervised around all hire items at all times.

9. Cleaning, Damage and Missing Items

Hire items must be returned clean, dry and in the same condition as supplied, allowing for reasonable wear and tear.

The customer is responsible for any loss, theft, breakage, stains, structural damage, excessive dirt, missing parts, weather damage, or damage caused by incorrect use, transport or setup.

If any hire item requires cleaning, repair or replacement, Monkie Event Hire may deduct the relevant cost from the security bond.

If the cleaning, repair or replacement cost exceeds the security bond paid by the customer, the customer must pay the additional balance.

Monkie Event Hire will calculate any charges reasonably, based on the level of damage, repair cost, replacement cost, labour cost and actual loss.

10. Cancellations and Changes

The 20% booking deposit is non-refundable if you cancel your order.

Any request to change the booking date, time, items, delivery option or event location must be made in writing and is subject to availability.

If Monkie Event Hire is unable to provide a booked item due to damage, loss, availability issues or circumstances outside our control, we may offer a suitable replacement, credit, refund for the affected item, or another agreed solution.

11. Customer Responsibility

The customer is responsible for ensuring the selected hire items are suitable for the venue, event type, access conditions and intended use.

The customer is responsible for the safety of guests, children and attendees around the hire items during the event.

To the extent permitted by law, Monkie Event Hire is not responsible for injury, loss or damage caused by misuse of hire items, unsafe venue conditions, failure to follow instructions, weather exposure, or customer negligence.

12. Australian Consumer Law

Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes, restricts or modifies any rights you may have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot be excluded.

13. Agreement

By placing a booking with Monkie Event Hire, you confirm that you have read, understood and agreed to these Terms and Conditions.
